Registered Provisional Psychologist, BSc, MEd
Alyssa believes that each person has the innate capacity towards healing and growth. In therapy, Alyssa combines your life experience and knowledge with her psychological training to tackle obstacles while developing skills that assist in this unique process.
Alyssa practices mainly from an evidence-based approach of Emotion Focused Therapy. Alyssa believes that emotions are very powerful messengers, that not only convey what is happening in our environment, but also communicate our needs. Alyssa will help you connect with and understand your emotions, especially the uncomfortable ones, while learning how to tolerate and use them as resources in your healing process.
Emotions also allow us to make connections with others. In your work with Alyssa, she will help to facilitate insight around different connections that have been made throughout your life and use this knowledge towards developing strong and healthy connections within yourself, and with others in your environment.
Throughout this process, Alyssa also incorporates mindfulness techniques to help reinforce a connection to values while creating a safe and welcoming environment to fully explore yourself and your suffering.
Alyssa is a Provisional Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She received her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology degree from the University of Alberta in 2019 and her Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University in 2016.
