Maki can support you to better cope with many stressors and decisions that can easily overwhelm your life. Maki is here to guide you on your journey to better understand yourself, your relationship with others, and the environment around you. Maki’s practice stems primarily from a strength-based and person-in-environment approach. Maki is passionate about helping her clients achieve their life goals, while validating, supporting, and challenging them in a compassionate manner.
Maki respects and cherishes each individual’s uniqueness and cultural experiences and integrates them into therapy goals to promote emotional well-being, overall self-care, and quality of life. Maki draws from various psychotherapy techniques as she firmly believes that we all bring distinct histories, stories, concerns, and resiliency to therapy. Maki also believes everyone is capable of positive changes in life. Maki is a bilingual therapist who can speak fluent English and Japanese.
Maki has over 9 years of experiences as a mental health therapist working with youth, adults, and families who suffers from depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, self-esteem, emotion regulation, relationship issues, and more. Maki is a Registered Clinical Social Worker in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers. She completed her Master of Social Work from University of Calgary in 2012 and her Bachelor of Social Work from University of Calgary in 2009.
