Master of Counselling Student Intern

“When there is willingness, there is a way” - Lane Pederson

Humans are unique in their ability to embrace change, live positively, and achieve their goals. I also believe humans have untapped strengths and resources to live a fulfilled life. My goal is to empower the individual to develop resilience in the face of adversity while taking meaningful steps toward positive change. Collaboratively, we will identify the client’s strengths, explore resources, and create achievable goals. I also aim to provide clients with practical tools for managing their emotions and improving their overall quality of life.

My grounding theory and work experience combine aspects of evidence-based approaches including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and mindfulness techniques. I have also gained interest and continue to build my knowledge and skills in EMDR Therapy, Narrative therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I am a 3rd year Master of Counselling Student who has had the privilege of working with a diverse group of individuals including children, youths, and members of a marginalized community. I have experience working with children and teens who struggle with emotion regulation, anxiety, behavioural concerns, and trauma. I also provide strategies to parents seeking extra support to help with their children. My approach is rooted in empathy, active listening, and a genuine commitment to the client’s well-being.

I appreciate the uniqueness of every individual and therapeutic interventions are tailored to honour the client’s cultural identity and values, while creating a safe and respectful space for exploration and growth.
